According to results from a recent report conducted by Synergy Research, the overall IT cloud market has grown exponentially by 50% in the first quarter of 2016. For the top 4 cloud providers being; AWS, Microsoft, IBM and Google, revenue from this phenomenon pulled in at just over $7 billion. While this is music to the ears of those involved with these companies, how does that exactly impact the rest of us and our IT systems?

Well for starters, no matter who owns the greater market share or spends the most money on their marketing, the good news is that all companies that can provide this software are enabling enterprises to move to the cloud as efficiently and seamlessly as possible. For companies within the Legal space for example, not only would overall IT costs start to reduce over time, but being enabled with more opportunities to protect information when the server is in an off-site and centralized (backed-up) location will protect sensitive confidential documents and information that is essential to effective customer service and building/maintaining trust.

Essentially, migrating to a cloud server will be essential for any company that requires flexibility, instant scalability, continuous updates to their IT software and overall efficiency out of their current and future IT systems. Market cannibalization is inevitable when it comes down to this proven phenomenon as companies such as Amazon, are already seeing almost half of their revenue per annum come from their cloud servers.
